Radio Station Broadcasted By Tablet
Thursday, 02 July 2015, 10:00
Jutel has developed a fully digital, web-based public audio solution for large public spaces. The project also involves speaker manufacturer Genelec and a healthy dose of agile software development. The system is the first one of its kind in the world.
The first example of which this new sound solution for conference venues is the web-based sound control system installed in the restaurant Nallikari in Oulu.
The application basically allows you to start your own TV and radio station at a conference, which allows the presentations in the conference to be broadcast to the world.
”Functionally similar sound systems do exist, but I don’t think there’s another one that is fully digital and compliant with standards,” says Jorma Kivelä, one of the two founders of Jutel.

Jutel Signs RAVENNA Partnership
Friday, 12 September 2014, 09:05
Today, as IBC opens its gates, Finnish company Jutel, one of the most experienced suppliers of radio station automation and digital radio broadcast solutions world-wide, announces its membership of the RAVENNA community. The move follows the installation of the world’s first RAVENNA/AES67-based commercial audio system, including networked loudspeakers.
The Jutel RadioMan software suite provides the best and most innovative solutions for media asset management, radio workflows and content distribution across various delivery channels. Jutel has successfully implemented RAVENNA/AES67 technology in various pilot projects, including a multi-zone distributed audio system that has been running in a restaurant complex in the Finnish town of Oulu since April 2014. The system is powered by Jutel Hipman technology and incorporates over 30 audio-over-IP capable Genelec loudspeakers; easy system control is facilitated by tablet-based user interfaces. Native support of the new AES67 interoperability standard is based on the open RAVENNA real-time media network technology developed by ALC NetworX.
Jorma Kivelä, CEO of Jutel Oy: “Networked audio and media systems enable new system architecture concepts and business models both for the broadcast industry and other audio and media installations. By integrating RAVENNA’s AES67-compatible audio-over-IP streaming technology, Jutel builds on standardized and future-proof network interoperability for their advanced radio and audio solutions.”
Andreas Hildebrand, Senior Product Manager of ALC NetworX, is also pleased with the partnership. “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Jutel to the RAVENNA partner community. With its RadioMan solution being fully based on a standardized software environment, Jutel is among the first manufacturers to make use of ALCs Virtual Sound Card technology. With their world-first installation of a RAVENNA/AES67-based commercial audio installation they have proven the flexibility and reliability of the RAVENNA network technology, even beyond the professional broadcast market.”
